Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar said that along with monitoring of the extra high tension substations of Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company (MP Transco) operating in the state, their remote control and operation will now be possible. For this, MP Transco has upgraded its old SCADA system as per the guidelines of the Central Electricity Authority and installed and made operational a new SCADA system equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Yesterday, its operation started from the new control room located in Nayagaon, Jabalpur.
Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar informed that this new SCADA system, built at an estimated cost of about Rs 51.88 crore, has many new features as compared to the old SCADA system. As per the guidelines of the Central Electricity Authority of the Government of India, the new SCADA system has been upgraded as per the latest technologies and cyber security requirements, now every minute real time data of the state ‘s extra high tension substations can be obtained and kept safe. This has increased the efficiency and reliability of the modern SCADA system, along with this there will be a significant improvement in security and data analysis capabilities.
The benefits of upgradation are as follows : –
Mr. Amarkirti Saxena, Chief Engineer, M.P. Transco informed that the new SCADA system includes advanced firewall and multi – layer security mechanism, which provide better protection from potential cyber threats. Its dashboard features advanced data analysis, which makes the decision making process more effective. Real – time data analytics will improve the accuracy and relevance of data, which will help in better decision making and quick responses. Being a user – friendly interface, the new system is equipped with modern and intuitive graphical user interface, which provides more efficiency and convenience to the operators. This upgradation of the SCADA system will play a vital role in meeting the changing international industrial standards and security requirements.
Will be used for secure data
Transco Local Area Network : –
Mr. Saxena informed that currently, keeping in mind the cyber security, the data of SCADA system will be received from the local area network through optical fiber ground wire of Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company, the revised drawing – design and accurate tendering process by Superintending Engineer Mr. Manish Khare along with the skill knowledge of Assistant Engineer of SCADA Mr. Atul Agarwal contributed in upgrading the SCADA.
