New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP’s) national convenor on Wednesday wrote a letter to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party of ‘weakening democracy’. Kejriwal asked Bhagwat whether RSS supported the ‘wrongdoings’ of the BJP in the past. The former Delhi chief minister questioned the RSS on alleged ‘cash for votes’ and ‘deletion of votes’ by the BJP. The letter was written ahead of the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025.
He alleged that BJP leaders openly distribute money and whether RSS supports the saffron party in buying votes. The AAP’s national convenor also raised concerns about the large-scale cutting of Dalit and Purvanchali votes, asking if RSS believes this is right for democracy.
“Whatever wrong BJP has done in the past, does RSS support it? BJP leaders are openly distributing money. Does RSS support buying votes? Dalit and Purvanchali votes are being cut on a large scale. Does RSS think this is right for democracy? Does RSS not think that BJP is weakening democracy?” Kejriwal wrote in his letter.

Last week, Kejriwal accused the BJP of running “Operation Lotus” in the New Delhi constituency since December 15 to delete voters from the voter list.
Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal said, “In my New Delhi assembly constituency – their (BJP) ‘operation Lotus’ has been going on since December 15. In these 15 days, they have applied for the deletion of 5,000 votes and the addition of 7,500 votes. Why there is a need to conduct elections if you are manipulating approximately 12 per cent of total voters in the assembly? A kind of ‘game’ is being going on in the name of election.”
The allegations were refuted by the BJP. The saffron party claimed that the AAP had included illegal Bangladeshis and Rohingyas in the voter list. “We openly state that you have added 8,000 to 10,000 illegal votes per constituency. In houses where five people live, you’ve registered up to 50 fake votes. We will remove every single one of these illegal votes,” BJP spokesperson Manjinder Singh Sirsa had said in response as quoted by IANS. The BJP leader further accused AAP of harbouring and supporting infiltrators for political gain.
This is not the first time that Kejriwal has written to the RSS chief. He wrote a similar letter in September 2024 asking five questions related to the BJP and its leadership.
The Delhi Assembly Elections are schedule to place in early this year.
