Aruprit Tigers produced a solid combined performances and recorded a convincing 117-run victory over BEST Arts & Sports Club in a fourth round league match of the 14th Insurance Shield T20 cricket tournament, organised by Oriental Insurance Company at Cross Maidan on Tuesday.

Electing to bat, Aruprit Tigers batters dominated the BEST bowling attack as they piled up a challenging total of 182 runs and losing five wickets from their quota of 20 overs. Middle-order batsman Prathamesh Chavan top-scored with a 24-ball unbeaten 43 runs and Nikhil Patil struck 40 runs from 22 balls to bolster the innings. Shantanu Nayak 32 runs and Siddhesh Gavande 29 runs contributed to the scoreboard. Kiran Khanvikar 2 for 46 was BEST’s best bowler.

Later, the Aruprit Tigers bowlers came out roaring and dismissed BEST for a paltry 65 runs in 14.3 overs. Nilesh Kharnair was the lone batter to get 24 runs. Aruprit bowlers Simant Dubey 3 for 23, Siddhesh Gavande 2 for 4, Piyush Kanojiya 2 for 13 and Anzar Mirza 2 for 14 picked up the wickets.

In another match, Mumbai Police CC defeated GIC (General Insurance Company) SC by 35 runs. Batting first, Mumbai Police scored 146 all out in 20 overs. The policemen then restricted GIC to 111 for 8 wickets from 20 overs to secure their win.

Brief scores: Aruprit Tigers 182 for 5, 20 overs (Prathamesh Chavan 43*, Nikhil Patil 40, Shantanu Nayak 32, Siddhesh Gavande 29; Kiran Khanvikar 2/46) beat BEST Arts & Sports Club 65 all out, 14.3 overs (Nilesh Kharnair 24; Simant Dubey 3/23, Siddhesh Gavande 2/4, Piyush Kanojiya 2/13, Anzar Mirza 2/14). Result: Aruprit Tigers won by 117 runs.

Mumbai Police CC 146 all out, 20 overs (Jayesh Chandorkar 49, Nishit Bhalla 21; Hamza Shaikh 3/19, Khadian D. 2/21) beat GIC CC 111 for 8, 20 overs (Sumeet Solkar 43; Nishit Bhalla 3/20, Rohit B. 2/18, Swapnil Kulaye 2/29). Result: Mumbai Police won 35 runs.
