Four players from across the world have been shortlisted for the ICC Men’s T20 Cricketer of the Year, which also includes Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh. Arshdeep Singh has been nominated for the ICC Men’s T2 International Cricketer of the Year award for being the joint-highest wicket-taker this season and playing a key role in India’s T20 World Cup win. 25 year old Arshdeep will compete with Pakistan’s Babar Azam, Australia’s Travis Head and Shikander Raza for this honour.
Right-arm fast bowler Arshdeep played an important role in India’s T20 World Cup victory in Barbados. He finished the year as the joint-highest wicket-taker in T20 Internationals with 36 wickets in 18 matches at an average of 13.5.
This is the second best performance by an Indian fast bowler in T20 International in a calendar year after Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 37 wickets in 2022. Arshdeep took 17 wickets in the T20 World Cup and was tied with Afghanistan’s Fazulak Farooqui for taking the most wickets in the tournament.
His 36 wickets in the last few years are the second most by an Indian player in a men’s T20I match, just one behind Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 37 wickets in 2022. This fast bowler has filled the gap of a right-arm fast bowler for Team India in the shortest format of cricket.
