A junior commissioned officer (JCO) of the Indian Army died on Saturday. He was seriously injured during an encounter with heavy weapons armed militants near the Line of Control (LOC) in Akhnoor sector of Jammu late Friday night. Officials said the soldiers posted on the LoC saw suspicious activity and took immediate action, after which there was firing from both sides. During this time a soldier was injured, who was taken for immediate treatment, but could not save his life.
The army thwarted the attempt to infiltrate the terrorists in this encounter. After this, a search operation was started by surrounded by the entire area. Additional security forces were deployed in this operation to ensure that no terrorist is hidden around.
Cartonal violation from Pakistan
Shortly after this encounter, Pakistan violated ceasefire in Poonch sector. Pakistani troops opened fire on elephant posts at around 11:30 pm on the night of 11 April. The Indian Army gave a strong reply to this and the firing continued from both sides till 12:30 pm. No casualties were reported in this incident.
Three terrorists killed during anti -terrorism campaign in Kishtwar
At the same time, the army killed three terrorists on the second day of the anti-terrorism campaign in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. The campaign started from 9 April and aims to wipe out terrorists hidden in the inaccessible hilly areas of Jammu division.

During the last 19 days, there have been five major encounters in the high areas of Kathua, Udhampur and Kishtwar districts. Three terrorists have been killed during these campaigns so far. At the same time, four policemen have lost their lives and three policemen and a girl were injured. Security forces are still engaged in intensive search operations, as it is believed that some terrorists may still hide in these areas.
