Russia Ukraine ceasefire: Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to hold talks with US President Donald Trump but Russia is now awaiting confirmation from Washington in this regard. This information was given by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.

Donald Trump said on Thursday that ‘I want to meet Putin soon, so that the ongoing war with Ukraine can be ended.’ He also expressed his desire to work on reducing nuclear weapons. The war between Russia and Ukraine started on 24 February 2022 and now it will be three years.

‘I wish I could meet Putin sooner’

Trump said, ‘I really wish I could meet Putin soon so that the (Russia-Ukraine) war can be ended because millions of people are dying in this war and it needs to be stopped.’ From what I heard, Putin wants to meet me and we will meet soon. I am ready to meet immediately. Soldiers are being killed on the battlefield.

Claimed even before the elections

Donald Trump had claimed several times before the elections that he would broker an agreement between Ukraine and Russia on the very first day of his tenure. Trump returned to the White House on January 20. However, his advisors now accepted that it might take several months for the war to end.

Zelensky ready to end the war

“From what I’ve heard, Putin wants to meet with me and we’ll meet soon,” Trump said. Ukrainian President Zelensky told me he is ready to make a deal to end the war. Efforts are being made to ensure a peace agreement.

Putin spoke to the President of China

It is noteworthy that just a few hours after Trump’s swearing-in ceremony, on January 21, Russian President Putin spoke on phone with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. According to Russian foreign affairs adviser Yuri Ushakov, Putin told Xi that ‘any agreement with Ukraine must respect Russian interests.’
