Mumbai: Mumbai’s Metro-3, also known as the Aqua Line, is set to extend its reach to Worli on April 10, offering relief to commuters battling the summer heat, said reports. Until now, the underground metro line has only been operational up to the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC).
With the completion of this second phase, the Metro-3 will officially enter the island city, making travel more convenient for Mumbaikars. This phase will connect key locations such as Dharavi and Siddhivinayak Temple, majorly easing congestion and cutting down travel time.

Progress On Phase 3
The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) made significant progress towards completing the city’s first underground metro corridor when a trial train successfully reached Cuffe Parade station on February 28. This marks the final stop on the 33.5-km-long Aqua Line.
In a statement, MMRC called this achievement a ‘historic milestone,’ showcasing the readiness of key infrastructure components, including rolling stock, tracks, and civil works.
The arrival of the trial train at Cuffe Parade covered a crucial 10.99 km stretch from Acharya Atre Chowk to Cuffe Parade, a major step towards commissioning Phase 2B.
MMRC Managing Director Ashwini Bhide confirmed that train trials for Phase 2A, from Dharavi to Acharya Atre Chowk, are progressing well. Simultaneously, trial runs have begun for the Acharya Atre Chowk–Cuffe Parade segment. She reaffirmed the goal of making the entire line operational by July 2025.
