Apple Ceo Tim Cook: American tax may make the company get a shock of $ 900 million, India becomes a big hope

News India Live, Digital Desk: Recently, Apple openly explained in its quarterly income -related conference call, what can be affected by America’s tax (tariff) rules. Apple’s CEO Tim Cook reported that the tariff had a minimum impact on the company in the March quarter, as the company handled its supply chain and stock very efficiently.

However, he also admitted that the impact of tax rules in the June quarter is clearly difficult to say, as the situation is constantly changing. If the tax policy is not changed, Apple may face an additional cost of about $ 900 million.

Tim Cook assured that at the moment Apple will handle this extra expenditure on its own and would not put it on customers. He said that Apple’s supply chain is so strong that customers have not yet to pay any extra price. There is no change in the prices of iPhone at the moment.

Apple is now turning to countries like India and Vietnam, reducing dependence on China. The company said that more than half of the iPhones sold in the US are now ready in India, while Mac, iPad, AirPods and Apple Watch are being produced in Vietnam. Apple clarified that it is working on a strategy to spread manufacturing in many countries to reduce the risks of production.

Although the US government has currently given temporary discounts to smartphones and tech devices from tariff rules, this situation is not permanent. Former President Donald Trump had plans to impose a tariff of up to 145% on products coming from China during his tenure. Later, the White House provided temporary discounts to smartphones, computers and tech equipment, so that companies could shift manufacturing.

Currently the prices of Apple’s products are stable, but if there is a major change in the trade policy of America, the prices may increase rapidly. The Apple is constantly monitoring the situation and is making strategic changes to make the customers a minimum impact.
