Content creator Apoorva Mukhija, best known as The Rebel Kid on social media, became a well-known figure after she recently found herself at the center of the controversy surrounding Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent, where she was one of the panelists. Her comments made to a contestant made her the target of intense online hate, and after the episode aired, she received disturbing threats, including rape, death, and acid threats. In April, she made a strong comeback, revealing her side of the story.
On Monday, Apoorva reacted to a netizen’s suggestion of her attending Cannes 2025 by humorously saying, “Gaali nahi khaani” (I don’t want to get abused), hinting that she might face online hate if she made her debut at the prestigious event. This response came after entertainment agency Social Ketchup asked their followers in a fun Q&A session which creator they would like to see on the carpet at Cannes 2025, set to take place from Tuesday, 13 May 2025, to Saturday, 24 May 2025, in the glamorous South of France.

Apoorva recently revealed her mother got rape threats during Latent controversy. Appearing on BraveTalk with Nikhil on Yuvaa, she said, “People found my parents’ social media accounts. My mother’s account was public and when all of this was happening, for the first two days, I was only thinking about myself. I didn’t think about my parents. I didn’t know what was happening.”
The 24-year-old added, “My mom got a lot of R-words and rape threats… I didn’t know till three days. I called my brother and he told me that mom’s BP has shot up… it could have led to a heart attack. I asked him, ‘Fir mummy ne kya kiya?’ and he told me, ‘Mummy ne bas likha I am very proud of my daughter aur fir comments off kar diye.’ That really hurt me because as I said, I wanted to do a lot of things for my mom.”
On the work front, Apoorva made her acting debut with Nadaaniyan, which starred Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor in the lead.
