Apollo Hospital: Apollo Cancer Centers (ACC), a leader in advanced cancer care, has launched India’s first LongLife Screening Program for early detection of lung cancer. This unprecedented initiative aims to fight lung cancer, which accounts for 5.9% of all cancers and 8.1% of cancer-related deaths in India. Early detection can lead to better treatment outcomes and increased survival rates.
Globocan 2020 estimates of cancer mortality by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) show that an estimated 1.8 million deaths (18%) in 2020 were caused by lung cancer.
Features of the screening program include patient registration and documentation, liaison with pulmonologist, pulmonary function testing (PFT), low-dose CT scan for early detection of lung cancer.
