Mumbai – Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who made derogatory remarks about Brahmins in a controversy over his film on social reformer Jyoti Ba Phule of Maharashtra, has apologized to Brahmins by posting a post in Hindi on X. Kashyap regretted his statement to be considered unfair and said that he was not intended to hurt the feelings of the entire community.
Anurag Kashyap said in his post that while answering someone in anger, I crossed my limits and used abusive words for the entire Brahmin community. People of this community are in my life and they have made a huge contribution. He and my family are also troubled by my behavior today. Even many of my intellectual friends, whom I respect, get upset with my angry answers and the way of speaking. Saying this, I myself stunned my point from the original issue. I apologize to the true heart. I did not want to say this to this community, but in response to someone’s low -level remarks, I got angry and wrote this thing. I apologize to my colleagues, friends, family and Brahmin community for my inappropriate language and how to speak. I will work to make sure that it does not happen again. I will try to control my anger. And when I have to talk on this issue, I will use the right words. I hope you will forgive me.
The controversy arose when Anurag Kashyap strongly criticized the Brahmin group, which opposed the release of the film Phule based on the life of a Dalit leader and social reformer. Kashyap condemned racism, censorship and rotten system in his series of messages. Then he commented under a post and wrote, “I will kill the Brahmin… is there any problem?” After Kashyap’s remarks, a wave of protest ran against him.
An FIR has been lodged against Anurag Kashyap despite apologizing for his unfair remarks. BJP’s Chief Advocate Ashutosh J. This complaint was lodged by Dubey. He described Kashyap’s remarks as derogatory and demanded legal action against him.
