Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School’s right arm medium pacer Anuj Singh claimed eight wickets to help his team win their Giles Shield MSSA U-14 inter-school match against MKVV International Vidyalaya Borivali by nine wickets on Tuesday. Batting first, MKVV just managed 35 all out in 14.3 overs. It was a complete Anuj show in the middle, sticking to his line and length, he snapped up (8-8) in 7.3 overs which included four maidens. The opposition had no answer for his stellar bowling performance. Coming out to chase down the total, Anjuman crossed the finish line with 36-1 in six overs thus advancing into the next round of the tournament.
An all-round show with bat and ball from Shreyas Khilare, 110 not out and six wickets ensured his team I.E.S New English won their encounter by 181 runs against St. Augustine’s High School at Shivaji Park. Batting first, the I.E.S team scored a fighting 251/4 in their 45 overs. Right-handed opening batter Harshal Sonavane made 85 while number four right-handed batter Shreyas played some elegant shots to notch up a brilliant ton with the bat. He pierced the gaps well and made sure his team had the upper hand in the contest. In reply, St. Augustine’s only managed 70 all out in 29 overs. This time Shreyas created magic with the ball, grabbing a six-wicket haul, (6-22) in eight overs and won the Man of the Match award.

V.K Krishna Menon won by 37 run against Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English Medium at National CC, Cross Maidan. Batting first, V.K. Krishna Menon made 227-7 in 45 overs. Right-handed opening batter Prerit Raut top scored with a brilliant 97 while left-handed batter Saif Ali made 71. In reply, Parle Tilak were 190 all out in 41 overs. Right-handed batter Yash Sagvekar scored 69. Off spinner Praveer Singh grabbed 4-55 in 20 overs thus winning the Man of the Match award, an SG MSSA Voucher of Rs2,000.
