Berlin : You must have heard the story of an ant and elephant, in which an ant climbs on the elephant’s trunk and drives it away. This breaks the ego of elephant to consider itself great. Meanwhile, something similar has happened in Germany. An aggressive and foreign species of ants, Tapinoma Magnum, has created a major uproar in Germany. These ants have disrupted power supply and internet services in the country. This tapinoma species of ants is native to the Mediterranean region. But this species is currently spreading widely in northern Germany.
According to Manfred Verhag, the insect scientist of Carlsaruhe’s Natural History Museum, the huge ants of the tapinoma species make super colonies. These ants are larger in size than species of normal ants. These ants are also more aggressive. Currently, tapinoma species of these ants are spreading in northern cities such as Cologne and Hanover. Due to this, electricity and internet services have been suspended in these cities.
Many services affected by storm
According to scientists, tapinoma species of ants are especially installing their settlements in the Baden-Vurtemberg and surrounding areas. In the city, electricity and internet services have been disrupted due to these ants in the city. These ants have also created an uproar in European countries like France and Switzerland. This is likely to create a major crisis in northern cities.
Possible danger warning
Meanwhile, ants of tapinoma magnum species have not been declared aggressive species. At present, there is no evidence that these ants have had any effect on the local ecosystem. But Baden-Vurtembberg Environment Minister Andre Bamman has described these ants as dangerous. Bamman has warned that if these ants are not controlled in time, there can be great damage.
Efforts continue to stop the spread of ants
Scientists have warned of potential threat. German scientists and administrative agencies are working together to prevent the spread of these ants. That is why efforts are being made to prevent technical resources, environment and damage to citizens. Scientists have now made it clear that these pests are causing a lot of damage. But research is still going on on how aggressive these ants are.
