Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The lower court has refused anticipatory bail to former TI of Aishbag police station Jitendra Garhwal in connection with the FIR registered against him and three other policemen for striking a deal of Rs 25 lakh in return of omitting some names in call centre scam case.
One of the cops ASI Pawan Raghuvanshi was caught with Rs 5 lakh which he accepted as advance from a mediator.
The accused cops were suspended and a case was registered against them at Aishbag police station. ASI Pawan later fled police custody and is still at large while TI Garhwal, head constables Manoj Singh and Dharmendra are also in hiding. The suspended TI had approached the court of ADJ Rampratap Mishra for an anticipatory bail.
However, the court considering the charges against him as serious refused to grant the benefit of anticipatory bail. Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra said three teams have been formed to arrest the policemen involved in corruption. A departmental inquiry is underway against the accused cops, he added.
Meanwhile, police teams are also hunting for gang kingpin Afzal Khan’s wife Sahiba and her brother Moin Khan of Tikamgarh along with corporator Anshul Jain who acted as a mediator and tried to save Moin Khan with the help of suspended cops.
The call centre was being run for the last four years and investigations revealed that Afzal Khan duped over 1200 people across the country on pretext of hefty returns in investments in online share trading.
Police officials said that teams are close to arresting the policemen involved in corruption. Separate teams are searching for those who are on the run in call centre scam.
