Amid growing tensions between India and Pakistan, another Congress MP has made controversial remarks about the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian armed forces across the Line of Control in 2016.

Speaking during a podcast, Masood said, “The whole world mocked the surgical strike.”

A clip from the podcast, in which Congress MP Masood made the controversial statement, has gone viral on social media. In the video, Masood demands an investigation and action into the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, in which Pakistan-based terrorists killed 26 people.

The host points out that the same rhetoric did not apply to the UPA government, during whose 10-year term over 3,000 civilians were killed and no military action was taken against the terrorists.

“That is why we are suffering today. When Uri happened, then surgical strikes were conducted; when Pulwama happened, air strikes were carried out in Balakot,” the host said.

To this, Masood responded, “The whole world mocked the air strike. Pakistanis are saying that they killed our three crows.”

Before Masood, former Punjab Chief Minister and Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi had also questioned India’s surgical strikes against Pakistan last week.

Speaking after the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in New Delhi on Monday, May 2, Channi stated, “If a bomb falls in our country, no one would know. They claim we conducted surgical strikes in Pakistan. Nothing happened, no surgical strikes were seen, nobody knew about them.”
