Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School set up title clash with Modern English School Chembur by defeating Al Barkaat MMI English School Kurla by two wickets in the 128th Harris Shield, MSSA U-16 cricket tournament at Mumbai Cricket Association’s BKC ground on Wednesday. In another semifinal, Modern English defeated Dnyandeep Seva Mandal by 23 runs at Parsee Gymkhana. The final will be played at Brabourne Stadium from December 16 to 18.
Resuming their batting on the final day at 6 for 0, the Anjuman team went about the chase strategically and reached 144-8 in 39.4 overs, just after lunch. Shahid Khan remained unbeaten on 43 off 57 deliveries to ensure Anjuman win the match amid pressure cooker situation. He smashed only three boundaries during his measured knock. Arhaan Patel chipped in with 31 runs. Off spinner Deven Yadav picked a three-wicket haul in 15 overs.
Prabhat Pandey was the star of the match for Anjuman Allana and was awarded the Man of the Match for his match-haul of eight wickets and key contribution with the bat. Pandey scored 43 in the first innings to enable Anjuman score 191 in 60.3 overs. He then grabbed a five-wicket haul during Al-Barkaat’s second innings to bundle them out for 132 in 35.1 overs. Anjuman had conceded 11-run first innings lead, but Prabhat’s bowling effort meant they just required to chase 144 in the second essay.
Al-Barkaat had posted a commendable 202 in 58.2 overs in their first innings. Off spinner Pandey picked (3-26) in that innings also.

For Modern English, Deekshant Patil was awarded the Man of the Match for match-haul of 10 wickets. Chasing 104 runs for victory, Dnyandeep Seva Mandal were bowled out for 80 in 35.5 overs on the third and final day on Wednesday. Left arm spinner Patil grabbed 6-22 in 12.5 overs.
On day 2, Patil picked 4-30 as Dnyandeep Seva Mandal were bundled out for 125 in 52.1 overs in first innings. Modern English made an identical total of 114 runs in both their innings. Left arm spinner Zaid Khan was the stand out performer for Dnyandeep with match-haul of 12 wickets but unfortunately it came in the losing cause.
