The annual yatra (fair) of Shri Kaleshwari (Kalubai) Devi at Mandhardev in Wai tehsil of Satara is scheduled to take place from January 12 to 29. During this period, the authorities have imposed a ban on animal sacrifices and the playing of musical instruments in the area. The District Magistrate has invoked Section 36 of the Mumbai Police Act, 1951, to enforce the restrictions.
In compliance with a directive from the Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay High Court, animal sacrifices will not be allowed during the yatra. The police and administration have taken necessary measures to ensure the implementation of this order.
While the sound of drums and musical instruments does not typically cause disturbances, playing musical instruments between the main gate and the temple, and in the surrounding areas of Kaleshwari Mandhardevi, has been prohibited considering that it can cause security lapse due to the noise.
The police officers have been given instructions to enforce the rules regarding vehicle movements and individual behavior during the yatra, ensuring the safety, health, and law and order in the area.
Regarding the noise pollution guidelines, it has been stated that the District Police Force has been granted the authority to take appropriate actions to ensure compliance with the restrictions and the Supreme Court’s noise pollution guidelines.
