Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): The “Ghats Festival” on Jabalpur’s Bhedaghat Road turned into chaos on the night of January 25 when two popular artists, lyricist Piyush Mishra and comedian Sunil Grover, did not show up for their scheduled performances on Friday.
Thousands of people had bought expensive tickets for the event, but when the artists didn’t appear, the audience became angry.
Frustrated, they started throwing chairs and breaking things at the venue. The organisers, CineCraft Event Organiser, were accused of cheating the audience.
Police reached the venue to control the crowd and calm the situation. People said they felt betrayed by the organisers, who had promoted the festival as a grand event from January 22 to 26, with promises of performances by big artists.
Sources revealed that the artists didn’t come because of a payment issue with the organizers.
As the crowd’s anger grew, the main organiser, Rahul Mishra, ran away from the venue but was later arrested by the police.
The police have registered a case of fraud against the organisers and are looking for other team members. Jabalpur ASP Suryakant Sharma said they are investigating the matter and assured strict action against those involved.
