In a significant development for the power infrastructure of the region, MahaTransco has successfully upgraded a 50 MVA transformer to 100 MVA at the 220/22 kV Anandnagar Substation.

The newly enhanced transformer was charged on March 18, and power supply through it commenced the next day at 3 PM, benefiting consumers in Ulhasnagar, Ambernath, Badlapur, and Anandnagar MIDC. The upgradation project, initiated on March 11, was expected to be completed by midnight on March 20. However, due to round-the-clock efforts and expedited execution, the transformer was operational two days ahead of schedule.

The initiative was carried out following a consensus reached in a joint meeting of industrial associations, consumers, MahaTransco, and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).“The completion of this project is expected to significantly improve the reliability and capacity of power supply to industrial and residential consumers in the region,” an official from MSEDCL said.

Chief Engineer of MSEDCL Kalyan Circle, Chandramani Mishra, and MahaTransco Chief Engineer, Mahesh Bhagwat, were present at the site to oversee the commissioning of the upgraded transformer.During the enhancement process, 13 express feeders supplying power to industries in Anandnagar MIDC, as well as residential consumers in Ulhasnagar Subdivisions 4 and 5, Ambernath East and West, and Badlapur East and West, faced temporary disruptions.

MahaTransco and MSEDCL expressed their appreciation to consumers for their patience and cooperation during this period. The inauguration event saw the presence of Superintendent Engineer of Kalyan Circle 2, Dilip Bhole, Executive Engineer of Ulhasnagar Division 2, Pravin Chakole, Executive Engineer of Badlapur Division, Ananda Katkar, along with other engineers and staff from MahaTransco and MSEDCL.

The transformer upgrade marks a significant step in strengthening the power supply network in the region, ensuring improved stability and efficiency for both industrial and residential consumers.
