Mahindra Group chief Anand Mahindra is a renowned fan of the game of chess. Mahindra has often been seen speaking enthusiastically of the game and the developments in the game.
His company, Tech Mahindra, even sponsored the Global Chess League, which he personally visited.
Mahindra Lauds Gukesh
Lauding another development from the world of chess, Mahindra took to his personal X account to express his support and admiration for young Indian grandmaster Gukesh Dommaraju or mononomously Gukesh, as he coming to be known these days.
Gukesh D recently attained another laurel of triumph, when he defeated Chinese grandmaster Ding Liren. Liren is 14 years senior than Gukesh D, who is just 18 years old.
Gukesh Defeats Chinese Challenger
The Indian grandmaster defeated the 32-year-old Chinese in 37 moves. This win in the third round of the World Chess Championship 2024. In this bargain, he bagged the prize money of Rs 1.67 crore.
Anand Mahindra was quick to respond and celebrate his triumph against the Chinese.
Mahindra in a series of posts lauded the Chennai teen.
In his first post, post victory, Mahindra said, “Nerves of steel!! A standing ovation for you, young man! @DGukesh”

Later, in another post, Mahindra expressed his appreciation for a musical video posted on X.
This edited video features Gukesh, with musical elements attached to it. The video was made by musician Kvish. The video/sports anthem, with lyrical composition Hindi, praises the Indian Chessmaster.
The maker of the song replied to Mahindra, to which the head of the Mumbai-based conglomerate added another post, this time lauding the song and the artist who made it.
Mahindra said, “Pulse-racing, fist-pumping stuff. We need anthems and cheerleaders for all our sportspersons. Keep rocking.”
As per the current ranking maintained by FIDE, Gukesh D’s current global ranking of 5. He has a standard rating of 2783, a rapid rating of 2654, and a blitz rating of 2615.
