News India Live, Digital Desk: Keeping in mind the importance and tourism capacity of Bikaner city of Rajasthan, the railway is working on a large scale for the expansion and improvement of passenger facilities. Keeping in mind the requirements of 50 years to come, Bikaner railway station is being redeveloped under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. There will be an investment of about Rs 382 crore on this project and this work will start after Deepawali and complete by 2027.
First 9 storey station of north-west railway
Bikaner station developing under North-West Railway will be the first station that will be 9 storey. Currently there are six platforms at the station, their number will increase to eight after redevelopment. The project has been given to the Jodhpur company VBRPL, in which KSIPL will serve as a colleague company.
Security and modernity will be included
The new building of the station will have a wonderful confluence of local art, cultural heritage and modern facilities. Special passenger facilities will be developed on three floors, while commercial activities such as hotels, shopping complexes, theater, shops and executive lounges will be built on the remaining six floors. In terms of security, hi -tech AI based CCTV cameras will be installed at the station.
Comprehensive expansion of facilities
A total of 38 lifts and 24 escalators will be installed in the station premises, including heavy duty lifts for goods. Different routes will be constructed for these and out at the second entrance. Attractive gardens and roads will also be constructed in the campus.
Outstanding economic benefits
This redevelopment project will construct about 46000 square meters of building. There will be a provision of about 47000 square meters for parking and circulation area, while 24000 square meters will be determined for business activities. The Food Court, Shopping Court, Cafeteria, rest area and children’s play will be developed in the Air Concarcs region (98 x 36 m). The project will create new employment opportunities at the regional level.
