Her parents have alleged that her son is in custody from January 1 without any official charge. According to his father, he has been arrested by Katri State Security. Amit’s father Jagdish is the retired Chief Engineer of ONGC. He is a resident of the pity region. On Saturday, he met Vadodara MP Hemang Joshi and sought support for his son’s release. Joshi has assured that he will help him in every way.

Who is Amit Gupta?

Amit Gupta is a senior employee of Tech Mahindra. He married Akanksha Gupta, after which he settled in Qatar in August 2013. According to his LinkedIn Profile, he was appointed as the regional head of Tech Mahindra in April 2022. His father told that they were having dinner in a restaurant. After this, Amit was arrested by the security agency and sent to solitude imprisonment. After the arrest, Amit’s parents went to Qatar and stayed there for a month. One day he was allowed to meet for only half an hour.

Why was he arrested?

The accurate details of the allegations against Amit Gupta have not been revealed yet, but several reports claim that he has been arrested in connection with the investigation of a case of data theft. Amit Gupta’s mother claims that her son was not given food for 48 hours. He was then taken to a room where he stayed for three months. Talking to a news agency, Amit’s mother said, ‘The reason is not yet known. Someone must have created some problem in the company, because he is the country manager, that’s why he has been arrested. He further explained that every Wednesday comes a five -minute call, which is the only means of contact.

India’s diplomatic exam!

Vadodara MP Hemang Joshi has said that he will raise the issue in Delhi. Qatar has not given the reason for Amit Gupta’s arrest nor has any case against him yet. If the speculation of data theft is to be believed, if he is found guilty in the case, he may face jail and fine under the Qatari Act. Until the actual case is known, it is difficult to say how much this amount will be. Qatar’s law is a mixture of Sharia principles, which makes it more rigid. However, this is a new diplomatic examination for India in Qatar. In 2022, Qatar arrested eight Indian Navy officials in a case of alleged espionage. He was sentenced to death in 2023. He was released in 2024 after India’s diplomatic efforts. Gupta’s custody is the second high-profile case related to an Indian citizen in Qatar since 2022. Just as India demonstrated its diplomatic power in the case of the officials who were punished for death penalty, it is possible that India would interfere in this matter and resolve the matter as soon as possible.
