Amid India-Pakistan tension, high alert on Nepal border, monitoring of drone and intensive search of suspects

Whenever the tension between India and Pakistan increases, its effect is not only seen directly on the boundaries, but also on other sensitive boundaries with neighboring countries. Nepal, which has a long and open border with India, becomes particularly important at such a time. Given the recent India-Pakistan tension, security agencies on the Indian border with Nepal are on high alert and are taking tough steps to prevent any untoward incident or anxiety.

Why increased vigil on Nepal border?

  1. Opened border misuse: There is a system of open border and visa-free movement between India and Nepal. Taking advantage of this, anti -social elements, agents of terrorists or enemy countries can try to illegally enter India.

  2. Infiltration of citizens of third country: In a stressful atmosphere, people associated with Pakistan or other anti -forces can try to enter India via Nepal to carry out a major conspiracy.

  3. Past experience: There have been many such cases earlier also when terrorists have used the Nepal border to infiltrate India.

Tight security arrangements: from drone to dog squad

Various security forces, such as Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), local police and intelligence agencies are working together to ensure security along the Nepal border. The following major measures are being taken:

  1. Intensive checking of suspects: Intensive search of every person and vehicle on the border posts and major routes is being conducted. The suspected persons are being strictly questioned and their identity is being verified.

  2. Drone monitoring: 24 × 7 air monitoring is being done with the help of drone cameras in sensitive areas, river-drains and dense forests. This can also keep an eye on places where human patrolling is difficult.

  3. Additional force deployment: Additional companies of security forces have been deployed at important places and patrolling has been increased.

  4. Intelligence system active: Local intelligence units have been made more active so that any suspicious activity can be reported immediately.

  5. Dog squad and night vision equipment: The help of investigative dogs (dog squad) is being taken and night vision equipment is being used for patrolling at night.

  6. Appeal for cooperation from citizens: Residents of the border villages are also being encouraged to be vigilant and informing any suspected person or activity immediately to the security forces.

  7. Coordination with Nepali counterparts: Indian security agencies are also coordinating with Nepali security forces to prevent any illegal activity from across the border.

What is the purpose?

The main objective of all these security measures is:

  • Stop any possible terrorist infiltration.

  • Camping illegal weapons, drugs or fake currency smuggling.

  • To thwart any anti-national activity from across the border.

  • Maintaining peace and security in border areas.

1971 India-Pakistan War: When a “flag” gave Pakistan a canker wounds, even today, the victory of India is waving in Uttarakhand!
