Military operation leaked in Signal Chat Group, American officials raging on Europe

The US has been stirred by a leak of an attack on Iran -backed Huti rebels in Yemen. This confidential information was shared in a group chat of the signal app, which accidentally added Jeffrey Goldberg, editor -in -chief of The Atlantic “magazine. The group consisted of several top officials including US Vice President JD Vance, External Affairs Minister Marco Rubio and Defense Minister Pete Hegseth.

How to reach the journalist from the White House?

Goldberg said in his report that on 13 March he was included in a signal chat called “Huthi PC Small Group”. In this chat, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz was instructing his deputy Alex Wong to prepare “Tiger Team” for the attack on Huti rebels.

According to Goldberg, a few hours before the attack on Huti rebels in Yemen on 15 March, US Defense Minister Pete Hegseth shared confidential information related to the operation in the chat. It included sensitive details such as targets, weapons and strategies. Although Goldberg did not publish these information in its report, described it as a “major omission of US national security”.

Officers’ conversation revealed

“The Atlantic” has also shared the screenshots of the group chat, showing that American officials were expressing resentment towards Europe.

  • Vice President JD Vance wrote questions about the attack,
    “If it is right to attack, do it, but I hate to save Europe again.”

  • Defense Minister Pete Hegseth replied,
    “I too hate Europe’s freebies. It’s pathetic.”

  • JD Vance expressed concern that the attack could bounce the oil prices, which would cause damage to the US.

What did Trump say?

President Donald Trump expressed ignorance on this leak. When reporters questioned him at the White House, he said,
“I have no idea about this. I am not a big fan of ‘The Atlantic’.”

However, a White House official confirmed that the investigation of the case was going on and Trump has been informed about it. This leak has raised serious questions about US national security and administrative secrecy.
