Bryan Johnson, an American entrepreneur known for his anti-ageing activism, who piloted a project called ‘Project Blueprint,’ left a podcast midway.
Bryan Johnson Leaves Podcast Due To Toxic Air
And no, this was not due to bad equipment or hard questions, but bad weather and environment. Johnson, who took part in Zerodha’s Nikhil Kamath’s podcast on ‘Longevity’ and health, ironically left the podcast midway due to the bad air in India.
This podcast was conducted in a five-star hotel, with air purifiers in Mumbai. Despite the facilities, Johnson was reportedly irked by the levels of pollution in the city and the country at large.
Johnson Confirms News
Speaking on the matter, Johnson confirmed the news and took to X to share his experience.
In his post, Johnson remarked, “When in India, I did end this podcast early due to the bad air quality. @nikhilkamathcio was a gracious host and we were having a great time. The problem was that the room we were in circulated outside air which made the air purifier I’d brought with me ineffective.”
The air inside the five-star hotel is as toxic as the AQI was 130 and PM2.5 was 75 µg/m³, which is equal to smoking 3.4 cigarettes for 24 hours of exposure.
Elucidating on his struggles, Bryan Johnson claimed that the air pollution had made his skin break out in rash and his eyes and throat burn.
He further made a critical note of India’s air pollution.
“Air pollution has been so normalized in India that no one even notices anymore despite the science of its negative effects being well known. People would be outside running. Babies and small children exposed from birth. No one wore a mask which can significantly decrease exposure. It was so confusing.”, added Johnson.
The evidence shows that India would improve the health of its population more by cleaning up air quality than by curing all cancers.
He further added, “I am unsure why India’s leaders do not make air quality a national emergency. I don’t know what interests, money and power keep things the way they are but it’s really bad for the entire country. “
Congress MP Reacts
Reacting to this development, Congress leader and Mumbai MP urged for immediate action and said the following.
Gaikwad in post highlighted the matter and said, “Bryan Johnson’s post is likely to reach entrepreneurs across the US and other countries given his global influence. Is this the kind of image of life quality we wish to project to potential foreign investors? I repeat, we urgently need a long term air pollution mitigation policy. It isn’t enough to say that in Mumbai we are better than Delhi. There should be no compromise on making air quality optimal. #AirQualityMatters #AQI #Mumbai #airpollution @Pankajamunde @Dev_Fadnavis@waatavaran”
