India vs America News: Two decades after the signing of the Indo-US civil nuclear atomic agreement, it seems certain that an American company will now be allowed to manufacture and design nuclear reactors in India. Approval has been received from the US Energy Department (DOE) for this project. The Department of Energy has approved Holtech International to design and build a nuclear reactor in India.

The application of Holtech International for the project is known as “10CFR810” (American Atomic Energy Act, 1954, Title 10, Part 810 of the Federal Regulations Code), approved by the Department of Energy on 26 March and includes specific restrictions. This regulation allows Holtech to transfer the small modular reactor (SMR) technology to three companies in India under certain conditions.

Along with this, its regional subsidiaries Holtech Asia, Tata Consulting Engineers Limited and Larsen & Tubro Limited have also been allowed this. The promoter of Holtech International is Indian-American Chris P Singh and has been operating an engineering unit in Pune since Holtech Asia 2010. Its manufacturing unit is in Dahej, Gujarat.
