Amendment in Government Pension Rules: Employees will get more benefits, new notification of DOPT released

News India Live, Digital Desk: There is good news for central government employees. Employees retiring on 30 June or 31 December will now get the benefit of the Non -increment policy. This will increase their pension.

According to the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, dearness allowance is increased twice a year on 1 January and 1 July. This increase will be announced in March and October/November. Those who will retire very close to this date will not benefit from this.

According to the new order of the DOPT, now an employee will now suffer no damage when retiring on 30 June or 31 December, ie the annual increment date of the employee will be the date of 1 July or 1 January before 1 January. The government has clarified that the employees who retired a day before the salary increase will also be given the benefit of salary increase in pension calculation.

The salary hike date was different for each employee. But this system changed from January 1, 2006. The process of implementing the annual increment for all started from July 1. After this, it was again changed in 2016. Two dates were then fixed for increment. That means 1 January and 1 July. But a day before these dates, the employees who retired were refused to give this benefit.

Many employees have gone to court on this issue. In 2017, the Madras High Court ruled in favor of the employee in a case. It is implemented by the DOPT. In addition, the Supreme Court also clarified in 2023 and 2024 that if an employee works honestly throughout the year, he deserves salary hike on its last day.

The DOPT has taken this decision after consultation with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Law. According to the new order, only employees with complete and satisfactory service will get this benefit. The proposed increment will be used only for pension calculation. This will not affect other retirement benefits.
