Mumbai: Amazon India has announced a significant expansion of its Ashray network to 100 centres across the country by the end of 2025, for the well-being of delivery associates. The e-commerce company had started with eight Ashray centres from its first phase in 2024.
Ashray centres are dedicated rest stops that offer air-conditioned seating, clean drinking water, electrolytes, mobile charging points, washrooms, first-aid kits, and refreshment facilities to delivery associates across e-commerce and logistics ecosystem.
Ashray centres operate from 9am to 9pm, all days of the week, offering free access to all visiting delivery associates for up to 30 minutes per visit. With a capacity to accommodate up to 15 people at any time, the centres offer convenient parking spaces as well.
Amazon India had eight Ashray centres inaugurated during the launch of its first phase across several cities including Mumbai. With a plan to have 100 centres by the end of 2025, Amazon India inaugurated 10 centres in Delhi on Wednesday with a significant number of them being opened in Mumbai.
Abhinav Singh, vice president operations for India and Australia at Amazon, said, “The health, wellbeing and comfort of delivery associates is our top priority. Opening these facilities to all delivery associates across e-commerce and logistics ecosystem, supports the entire logistics community and reflects our commitment to raising industry standards. We are encouraged by the response we have seen so far and are committed to expanding this initiative to 100 such centres across India.”
According to Amazon, Ashray centres have recorded thousands of visits since its inception, demonstrating the growing demand and need for this initiative for the last-mile community. The first Ashray centre was launched in Gurugram in August 2024, with two new centres following close on its heels in Bengaluru and Mumbai.
The expansion is expected to further increase accessibility for delivery associates, ensuring they have reliable spaces to rest and recharge while fulfilling customer orders.
