Renowned singer and music composer Amaal Mallik made a shocking revelation, announcing that he is cutting all personal ties with his family. On Thursday (March 20), in an emotional and deeply personal note, Amaal accused his family of belittling him, holding him back, and creating a rift between him and his younger brother, Armaan Malik, who is also a singer. Their mother, Jyothi Malik has now reacted to Amaal’s post.
When Hindustan Times contacted Jyothi about Amaal’s allegations, she responded briefly, refusing to comment on the matter. “I don’t think you (media) need to be involved in all this. Whatever he has put is his choice. I am sorry. Thank you,” she said.
It may be mentioned that Amaal’s mother used to often share photos with him on Instagram. In fact, just a few days back, on March 9, Jyothi shared a selfie with Amaal and wrote, “YOU ARE MY FIRST LOVE, …THE ONE WHO MADE ME A MOM. I PROMISE TO BE BY YOUR SIDE, SUPPORTING YOU, and CHERISHING OUR JOURNEY TOGETHER FOREVER .”

In his long note, Amaal also revealed that the emotional toll of these experiences had led him to clinical depression.
He expressed his pain, stating, “I’ve reached a point where I can no longer keep silent about the pain I’ve endured. For years, I’ve been made to feel like I am less in spite of spending days and nights toiling away to make a safe life for people. I have spent my blood, sweat & tears to create each of the 126 melodies that have released over the last decade.”
The music composer, who is the son of Daboo Malik and nephew of Anu Malik, further revealed that despite his dedication to his family, he was constantly ‘undermined and disrespected’.

He also blamed his parents for driving a wedge between him and his brother, stating, “The journey has been terrific for both of us, but the actions of my parents have been the reason we as brothers have gone too far from one another.”
Amaal did not hold back in describing the emotional turmoil he has endured over the years. “They have left no opportunity to disturb my well-being & belittle all my friendships, my relationships, my mindset, my self-confidence. But I just kept marching on because I believe I’m unshakable.”
Amaal opens up about clinical depression
In a heartbreaking revelation, Amaal disclosed that the stress and struggles within his family had taken a severe toll on his mental health. He wrote, “Today, I stand at a point where I have been robbed of my peace, drained emotionally, and maybe financially too, but that’s the least of my concerns. What really matters is that I am clinically depressed because of these happenings.”

Declaring his decision to ‘step away from his family’, he added, “From now on, my interactions with my family will be strictly professional. This isn’t a decision made in anger, but one born from the necessity to heal and reclaim my life. I refuse to let the past rob me of my future any longer.”
Amaal’s younger brother Armaan has not yet reacted to the statement. The two brothers have worked together on multiple hit songs, but their personal relationship now appears strained.
Despite the turmoil in his personal life, Amaal remains one of Bollywood’s most successful music composers. He has delivered chartbusters like Sooraj Dooba Hai, Bol Do Na Zara, Jab Tak, Kaun Tujhe, and Ami Je Tomar 3.0, among others.
Amaal’s revelation has left fans shocked, with many expressing their support for the composer.
