The Railway Ministry shared a video on social media Thursday showcasing a railway security personnel’s swift action that saved a woman passenger’s life. According to reports, the incident occurred last week at the DDU (Deen Dayal Upadhyaya) Station in Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh.

The video shows a woman attempting to board a moving train when she stumbled and began falling into the gap between the train and the platform. The on-duty RPF (Railway Protection Force) jawan displayed remarkable alertness and pulled the woman out of the dangerous gap.

According to reports, the 12487 Jogbani-Anand Vihar Express was stationed at platform number 6 of DDU Station. As the train began moving at its scheduled departure time, several passengers boarded it. A 40-year-old woman passenger also attempted to board the moving train. During this attempt, she lost her balance and fell into the gap between the train and platform, being dragged along while firmly holding onto the train.

RPF jawan Shiv Kumar Sharma, who was on duty, witnessed the scene and demonstrated lightning-quick reflexes. He grabbed the woman with both hands and, after she was dragged a short distance, managed to pull her safely onto the platform.

Providing details about the incident, RPF Inspector-in-charge Pradeep Kumar Rawat identified the woman as Nirmala Devi, a resident of Akbarpur, UP. He explained that the woman was traveling when she missed her train at DDU Station for some reason and the accident occurred while attempting to board the moving train. The Inspector-in-charge confirmed that the woman passenger did not sustain any injuries. She was later helped onto another train to continue to her destination.
