Mumbai – Maharashtra Police has been asked to be vigilant on the occasion of Ramnavami and Hanuman Jayanti. A top official gave this information.

Ramnavami will be celebrated on Sunday, 6 April. Two years ago, there were clashes in Nagpur during a religious procession on this occasion. In addition, violence and communal tension spread in Nagpur following protests demanding the removal of Aurangzeb’s grave in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar last month.

Many policemen and citizens, including three DCPs, were injured during this violence. Vehicles and houses were vandalized and set on fire.

The police officer said that the commandos of all the units of the city police and the District Superintendent of Police have been asked to keep the police force on alert to maintain law and order status. Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla recently reviewed the situation.

In many places, Ram Navami processions pass by mosques. Due to which a stressful situation is created. Additional police forces will be deployed at places with a history of communal tension or riots and processions in cities will be monitored with drone cameras.

The official said that the warning issued to the police will be effective till Hanuman Jayanti on April 12.
