Alan Musk, a tech industry veteran and advisor to Donald Trump, recently hoped that there was no import duty on trade between the US and Europe. His statement is exactly opposite to Trump’s new tariff policy, in which the US has announced a huge import duty on the European Union.
Musk gave this comment while addressing ‘The League Congress’ organized by Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister Mateo Salvini. He said that he believes that the US and Europe should move towards “zero tariff” so that an effective free trade sector can be established between the two.
What did Musk advise Trump
According to Bloomberg report, Musk openly expressed open opinion on the movement of workers, not only on tariffs. He said that the freedom to work between the Trans-Alantic Labor Mobility i.e. Europe and America should also be encouraged. Musk said, “If someone wants to work in Europe or in America, he should be allowed to do so. This is also the advice given to my President Trump.”
Trade war starts: 20 percent import duty on Europe
Musk’s statement came at a time when the US has imposed a 20 percent import duty on some major products coming from the European Union. This decision is making a huge impact on global financial markets. For the first time since the introduction of Korona epidemic, there has been such a big decline in the market.
Europe’s response: ready for retaliation
In response to this aggressive policy of America, European Commission Chairman Ursula von Der Leyen has clarified that Europe is ready to protect its interests. He said that Europe is always ready for talks, but if the conflict situation comes, he will also answer it.
