Indian fast bowler Akash Deep revealed how he got Virat Kohli’s special bat, which helped him play crucial innings against Australia during the Gabba Test. Akash Deep played a brilliant inning of 31 runs in that match, which proved crucial for India to avoid the follow-on. The match was drawn after rain.

Akash Deep got this bat from Virat Kohli during the Bangladesh series, and with the same bat he batted stormy in Kanpur. He recently told that Kohli himself had asked him if he wanted a bat.

Speaking to PTI, Akash Deep said, “Yes, that was Virat bhaiya’s bat, the one with MRF logo, everyone knows. Bhaiya (Kohli) himself asked me ‘Do you want a bat?’ I immediately replied and said that anyone in the world would like to have his bat. Then he gifted it to me.”

He also revealed that despite being teammates at RCB, he was hesitant in asking Kohli for the bat as he did not want to upset Kohli, especially when he was concentrating on the match.

Akash Deep said, “I have been with bhaiya (Kohli) for some time now. But I always wondered whether it was right to ask for a bat from a big player like Virat bhaiya or not. Especially when he is in his zone, you don’t want to trouble him, but bhaiya himself gave me the bat.”
