India’s cricket captain, Rohit Sharma, is set to play his first Ranji Trophy match in 10 years having last played in India’s premier domestic cricket competition back in 2015. Rohit will be part of Mumbai team that will face Jammu & Kashmir on January 23. Ajinkya Rahane will be leading the Mumbai team.

While adresing the media ahead of the match, Rahane spoke about Rohit’s calm and relaxed nature. He stated, “Rohit is Rohit. We all know his character. He has always been relaxed, even at the international level. He knows his game well, and no one needs to guide him.”

Rahane expressed confidence that Rohit would deliver a big performance, noting his determination and hunger to succeed. He also shared that Rohit looked good during net practice sessions.

“What important is that he is hungry, he is determined to do well. I am sure once he gets in, he will get a big one. He batted really well yesterday in a couple of sessions so it’s part and parcel of a player’s career. I am really confident about Rohit.”

After the disappointing series in Australia, the BCCI advised senior players to participate in domestic matches to regain form. With the Champions Trophy approaching, Rohit has only few matches to rediscover his rhythm and prepare for the tournament. Besides Rohit, Yashasvi Jaiswal, has also been added to the squad
