Raid 2 Review: In 2018, Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’Cruz starred in a movie titled Raid which was inspired by a real-life story. The film had grabbed everyone’s attention, and it became a super hit at the box office. Now, after seven years, a sequel to the film, titled Raid 2, has hit the big screens today (May 1, 2025). While Ajay is back as Amay Patnaik, Vaani Kapoor has replaced Ileana in the film. Well, Raid 2 has its moments, but it is a slow burner. Read on to know more…

It is 1989 and Amay Patnaik (Ajay Devgn) is working as an IT Commissioner in Rajasthan. But, after a raid, he is accused of taking bribe and transferred to a place named Bhoj. There he meets Dada Bhai (Riteish Deshmukh) who is a politician and messiah for the people of Bhoj. However, Patnaik comes to know that Dada Bhai has a lot of black money. So, he decides to do a raid at his house and other places, but for the first time in his career, Patnaik’s raid is unsuccessful as he finds nothing. Soon, a cat and mouse game starts where Patnaik wants to reveal the truth of Dada Bhai, and the latter wants to save himself. Will Patnaik finally reveal the true face of Dada Bhai and have a successful raid? Well, to know that you need to watch the film.

Raid 2 is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta who had also helmed the first instalment of the movie. No One Killed Jessica, Raid, India’s Most Wanted, all these movies were directed by Gupta, and he has a style of story-telling. His movies are slow burners. The first half of his movies is always very slow, and there’s no drama.

However, Gupta takes the movie to another level with his second half and the climax. He has used the same formula for Raid 2 as well. The first half of the movie has nothing that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is predictable and will bore you. But, the second half starts with a bang, and some interesting twists and turns will keep you hooked to the screen.

The climax of Raid 2 surely takes the film a notch higher. Without giving spoilers, let us tell you that there’s a scene in the climax which will surely make you clap because the way Patnaik saves his team is simply brilliant.

Raid 2 Review – Actors’ Performances

Ajay Devgn as Amay Patnaik is excellent in the film. He gets into the skin of the character perfectly, and he is so good that when Amay loses, you will feel sad, and when he wins, you will feel happy. Vaani Kapoor is just fine. She doesn’t have much to do in the movie, but we surely missed Ileana D’Cruz because her chemistry with Ajay in Raid was very good. However, here Ajay and Vaani’s chemistry is dull.

Riteish Deshmukh as Dada Bhai is amazing in his role. Whenever the actor has played a negative role, he has nailed it, and Raid 2 is no exception. While Ajay and Riteish are fantastic in their respective roles, it is Saurabh Shukla and Amit Sial who steal the show. The two have been given some of the best scenes in the film, and they are simply outstanding.

Shruti Pandey surely deserves a special mention as she leaves a strong mark with her performance. Also, Tamannaah Bhatia once again steals our hearts with her wonderful dance moves.

Raid 2 Review – Music

When it comes to songs, Nasha (Tamannaah’s dance number) and Money Money grab our attention, and even the background music is decent.

Raid 2 Review – Final Verdict

Overall, Ajay Devgn starrer starts on a very slow note, and only picks up after the interval. So, if you are planning to watch the movie, you need to keep patience. It is a slow burner!
