Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Municipal Corporation of Bhopal (BMC) has intensified its drive to clear encroachments across the city ahead of the upcoming Global Investors Summit (GIS).

On Wednesday, the civic body removed illegal structures from 20 locations, including areas around hotels designated for guests arriving for GIS. 

Led by encroachment officer Srishti Bhadoria, the BMC team demolished temporary and some permanent structures near Radisson Hotel in Ward-50.

Sand and gravel stored roadside were seized using JCBs and dumpers, while five huts near Sevoy Complex were razed. A drinking water kiosk was also relocated. 

Authorities also cleared 60 large vehicle tires, dismantled thatched roofs, and removed unauthorized auto parts, handcarts, shop extensions, and other encroachments. Items seized included two rooftop carts, two shops, a shop frame, two tables, and 20 stools. 

Encroachment removal efforts extended to multiple locations, including Ashoka Garden, Avadhpuri Chauraha, Nariyal Kheda, 1100 Quarters, Ishwar Nagar, Bairagarh, Mata Mandir, Kolar, Hoshangabad Road, AIIMS, Gandhi Nagar Bus Stand, and Link Road No. 1, 2, and 3. Similar actions were taken at Ashoka Garden Police Station, Anna Nagar, and Jawahar Chowk.
