Sao Paulo (Brazil): Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan is currently on a visit to Brazil for a meeting of BRICS Agriculture Ministers. During this visit, he inspected state -of -the -art agricultural systems in Brazil and appreciated the use of modern technology. He observed effective mechanical and low -water irrigation systems in particular tomato cultivation.

During this visit, Chauhan visited Tomato and Mecca fields in Brazil, where he saw the state -of -the -art methods of farming and irrigation. He said, “The entire farming here has been mechanized with the help of machines. The irrigation system is also very controlled and the tree is given water only as per the need. Therefore, more irrigation can be done in less water.”

Study of modern technology in agriculture

He particularly praised the cost -effective irrigation system developed by Brazilian farmers. Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, “This system can be very useful for a country with limited water resources like India. We are working towards using such technology in India to increase production.” He said that modern technology in agriculture is saving labor and resources, which is directly benefiting production and farmers’ income. He also said that these experiences will work as a guide for the agricultural development of India.

Praise of Brazilian farming system

Shivraj Singh mentioned the widespread use of machinery in Brazilian agriculture, especially the machines used for cutting cotton and soybean. Talking to Brazilian agricultural experts, he expressed the need to increase cooperation between India and Brazil in the region. He said, “The exchange of knowledge in agriculture and mutual cooperation will benefit the farmers of both countries. I have invited the agricultural community of Brazil to come to India so that the exchange of mutual experiences can make agriculture more capable of both countries.”

There is a possibility of a significant increase in India-Brazil Agricultural Trade

According to officials of the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, the agricultural trade between India and Brazil is currently $ 2 to 3 billion, but soon it is expected to increase to $ 15 to 20 billion. Brazil exports a large amount of fertilizer, soybean, sugar, food grains, meat and vegetables to India. Chauhan also clarified that strategic cooperation and technical partnership between the two countries will play an important role in increasing this trade.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan posted a video on social media, in which he commented on his farming experience in Brazil. He said, “I am getting an opportunity to experience many agricultural innovations in Brazil. I am learning many things that will be useful in changing agriculture in India.” His visit is likely to open new opportunities in India’s agricultural policies, and India’s trend is increasing towards laying the foundation of sustainable agriculture with the help of modern technology.
