Increase in age limit: There is great relief news for the youth who wish to join Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service. Omar Abdullah’s government has increased the age limit for the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024. Now the age limit has been increased from 32 to 35 years for general category (open merit) candidates, 37 years for reserved category and serving candidates and 38 years for physically handicapped candidates.

However, despite this relief, the demand to reserve minimum 50% of the vacancies for open merit candidates and amendment in the reservation policy has still not been resolved. This decision is a positive step for the youth preparing for Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services, but disputes and demands regarding the reservation policy are still pending.

As per new notification

  • The maximum age limit for Open Merit (OM) category candidates will be 35 years.
  • This limit has been fixed at 37 years for reserved category and serving candidates.
  • For physically handicapped candidates this limit will be 38 years.
  • This notification has been issued by the order of the Lieutenant Governor and its purpose is to provide more candidates an opportunity to appear for the examination.
