Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): After the launch of the Vedic clock in Ujjain, the city is now set to introduce the Vikramaditya Vedic App.
This app will not only show the time but also provide details like sunrise, sunset, auspicious timings, and other Panchang (Hindu calendar) calculations.
The app is expected to be launched by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The app has been developed by teams from Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh and will be available for both Android and iOS users. A key highlight is that the app will be completely free and will support 189 languages worldwide.
According to Shriram Tiwari, Director of the Vikramaditya Research Institute, the app will work like a mini Panchang. Currently, it is in the trial phase on Google Play Store, and after updates, it is expected to be officially launched in April.
Speaking about differences in Panchang calculations, Tiwari explained that there is no real disagreement. He said that Indian time calculations were moved to different places like Greenwich over the last 200-300 years. Similarly, astrologers in different cities started using their own methods, leading to variations.
He also mentioned that after Ujjain’s time calculation center was destroyed, different independent Panchangs were created, leading to further differences.
Almost a year ago, on February 29, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Vikramaditya Vedic Clock in Ujjain.
It is the world’s first clock based on Indian time calculations. This clock includes details like Vikram Samvat, yoga, auspicious and inauspicious timings, planetary movements, solar and lunar eclipses, festivals, and other Vedic time calculations.
