India’s air defense system has recently demonstrated its immense power by successfully thwarting Pakistani attacks. Now, the responsibility of preventing future attacks from accuracy is completely on our armed forces. As you may know, the most deadly component of India’s air defense system is Russia-built S-400. According to sources, S-400 was used during Operation Sindoor, and based on its performance, the Indian Army is now considering the purchase of additional S-400 missiles. The system includes four types of missiles that are capable of penetrating goals at a distance of 50 km to 400 km, and India has already sent requests from Russia to more missiles.
But now, the time has come to prepare for the arrival of ‘Dada’-S-500 Promthius of S-400 in India. In Greek mythology, Promthius is known as the god of fire, and this missile system fulfills the name by raising fire on enemies. Russia earlier offered a joint production deal for S-500 to India. S-500 is much more powerful than S-400. Simply put, this development has raised the alarm bell in countries like Pakistan and China.
We are calling S-500 a “grandfather” of S-400, not only for dramatic effects-but because in Bengali, “Dada” is a loving word for an elder brother, and in terms of capacity, S-500 is actually a more advanced elder brother of S-400. The reason here is mentioned:
Range: While S-400 can kill targets up to 400 km, S-500 increases it by 600 km-additional 200 kilometers.
Types of targets: S-400 can prevent missiles, fighter jets and drones. Apart from all this, the S-500 can target satellites in the Earth’s orbit.
Response Time: S-400 takes about 9–10 seconds to attack the target. The S-500 reduces it to 3-4 seconds, causing it to double.
If the S-500 is deployed on the borders of India, it will cover every corner of Pakistan, including the areas near the borders with Afghanistan and Iran.
According to Russian sources, S-500 can also target the stealth fighter jet that avoids radar grip. China already has such jets and Pakistan has started efforts to achieve them from China. This makes S-500 a strategic need for India. Experts believe that no other air defense system in the world can equal S-500.
To keep things in perspective:
The 600 km range of S-500 is much less than the American Thaad system, which reaches only 200 kilometers. The S-500 missiles can reach a speed of 7 kilometers per second, allowing them to destroy the target located 600 km away in only 90 seconds. Conversely, Thaad missiles can run at a maximum speed of 2.5 kilometers per second. The Russian media claims that the price of a S-500 unit can be around Rs 6,000 crore, while the US Thaad system is estimated to be priced at Rs 6,800 crore or more. Russia claims that its air defense system is the most powerful globally, and data supports it. The S-400 and S-500 can work together, and if India signs this deal, this “powerful pair” will be able to protect our borders.
Notable, Russia has never offered S-500 to any other country. In defense and diplomacy, permanent partners are the most reliable. It is due to the strong relations between India-Russia that India boldly moved forward with the purchase of S-400 in 2018 despite the threats of US sanctions. Recently, you must have seen pictures of BrahMos missile attacks on Pakistan. India and Russia jointly developed BrahMos, and it is very possible that the “Make in India” version of the S-500 may be next.
India is developing another powerful weapon to combat Pakistani drone attacks- Micro-Racket System ‘Bhargavastra’. It is an anti-draone system that uses rocket fire to kill a drone flock. Recently, four rockets were fired in the test on May 13, each of which hit its target accurately. Senior Indian Army officers were present during the test. In the near future, Bhargavastra can be deployed on the border to eliminate Pakistani drones. But before that, legitimate drones are landing on those who conspired anti -national conspiracy in Uttar Pradesh.
