Rivalry Over Opening of Food Stall
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Baldev Desai, cited by PTI, a preliminary police investigation indicated that the violence was triggered by a dispute over setting up a food stall near a commercial complex in Vastral. Pankaj Bhavsar allegedly harbored resentment against his rival, Sangram Sikarwar, for preventing him from opening the stall.
Upon learning that Sikarwar had been released from jail a few days earlier, Bhavsar reportedly sent his associates to attack him. However, when they were unable to locate Sikarwar at his residence, the group began randomly assaulting people and damaging vehicles. The situation was eventually brought under control by a police team led by the local inspector.
Following a complaint from the SUV owner, authorities registered a case for rioting, attempt to murder, and other offenses, following which the police arrested 14 people, including a minor.
