Mumbai: Karan Johar has sold the stake of his Dharma Production Company to Adarad Poonawal. Now Farhan Akhtar is also preparing to sell majority stake in his production company Excel Entertainment.

It is being told that Hollywood’s Universal Studios has shown interest in investing in Farhan Akhtar’s company. However, details of the deal have not been revealed yet. Knowledgeable circles say that the entire discussion is still in a very preliminary stage.

According to trade circles in Bollywood, Farhan Akhtar’s films are critically acclaimed but do not prove to be massive blockbusters at the box office.

For the last three years, it has become a trend in Bollywood that even if one or two films do well, the rest do only average business.

A big actor cannot guarantee success at the box office, so Farhan Akhtar might want to lighten his financial burden.

Sources even say that if Yash Raj banner’s upcoming film ‘War 2’ with Hrithik Roshan does not become a mega hit, then Aditya Chopra may also consider selling his stake. In the last few years, except Shahrukh’s ‘Pathan’, most of Yash Raj’s films have flopped at the box office.
