Pune: After Accident Kills 3, Including 2 Kids, Shirur MP Dr Amol Kolhe Urges Government For Urgent Action On Talegaon-Chakan-Shikrapur Highway |
Following the tragic news of an accident on the Talegaon-Chakan-Shikrapur National Highway near Pimple Jagtap village, where three people, including two children, lost their lives, Shirur MP Dr. Amol Kolhe has written a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and State Public Works Minister Shivendra Raje Bhosale.
Dr. Kolhe, in his letter, expressed sorrow over the incident.
Regarding the dangerous stretch of the road, he highlighted the urgent need for the government to take action on improving the safety of this stretch of road where many accidents take place.
Work shifted to MSIDC
He also noted that the tender process for the elevated corridor on this route had started in December 2023 but was delayed after the Lok Sabha elections. Later, he said that the highway was transferred to MSIDC, leading to the need for the process to start from scratch now.
Dr. Kolhe emphasized that it is a tragic misfortune that lives are continuously being lost on this toll road managed by both the Central and State governments, which have not prioritized safety. He also mentioned that, as a public representative, he has been consistently following up on the matter.
Kolhe had already written to the State Public Works Minister in December 2024, asking for prompt action on the project.
Now, after the accident, Dr. Kolhe has once again asked the authorities to start construction on the elevated corridor as soon as possible in the wake of the unfortunate event.
In order to stop other accidents on this hazardous section of highway, he also demanded that safety measures be put in place right away.
