Today, on 19 April 2025, 5.8 magnitude earthquake tremors were felt in Afghanistan at 12:17 pm. The depth of the earthquake was 86 km below the ground, due to which its shocks were felt far and wide.
The tremors of earthquake were felt from Afghanistan to Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir, causing panic among the people and came out of their homes. However, no immediate information has been received about the loss of any life and property so far.
Shocks were also felt in Pakistan
Earthquake tremors were felt in Pakistan in Islamabad, Lahore, other districts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. This is the third earthquake in Pakistan within a week. Earlier on April 13, there was a 5.8 magnitude earthquake, which was the center of Rawalpindi near Islamabad. Local people are worried about frequent earthquakes. Many schools and offices have been evacuated due to security reasons.

According to geological scientists, the main cause of earthquake is a sharp movement in tectonical plates. Apart from this, meteor effects, volcanic eruption, mine testing and nuclear testing can also be the cause of earthquakes. The intensity of the earthquake on the Richter scale is measured, with an earthquake ranging from 2.0 to 3.0, while the earthquake of magnitude 6 or above is considered powerful.
