News India Live, Digital Desk: Android 16: Today, smartphones are used to store banking, social media and private data. In such a situation, the safety of the smartphone has become very important. In view of this, Google is bringing a new security feature ‘Advanced Protection Mode’ in its Android 16 operating system. This feature will make your smartphone more secure than normal.

Feature is in testing stage

According to Android Authority report, currently this feature is being tested with Android 16 Beta 4 on devices like Google Pixel 9. After rolling out for common users, it will be available as a simple togle in feature settings. Along with turning on it, many important security settings will automatically become active, which the users will not be able to change. This feature gives preference to safety completely.

Data theft and prevention of hacking

Advanced Protection Mode will provide many common cyber hazards such as data theft, hacking and protection from viruses. For example, this will discontinue 2G network and old Wep Wi-Fi networks, making it difficult for hackers to reach the phone. However, the use of 2G networks will be possible at the time of emergency.

Advanced Protection Mode includes features such as Theft Detection Lock and Offline Device Lock, which will immediately lock it in case of phone theft or lost. This will protect your phone data.

Additional security alert

If you go to an unsafe (HTTP) website, the phone will alert you. The Android Safe Browsing feature will also warns towards the suspected website.

Additional security for apps

Developers will be able to identify whether the user is using this mode or not. With this, banking and secure communication apps will be able to provide additional security levels. Google’s Messages and Phone Apps will also be able to detect spam and scam in this mode in a better way.

Expected official rollout

Google started work on this feature in October 2024. It is now gradually available in the beta version of Android 16. Its full version can be launched in the coming weeks. The annual I/O developer conference of Android Show and Google to be held on May 13 is likely to get more detailed information about this feature.
