Mumbai: The admission process for polytechnic diploma courses, which open the path to becoming an engineer after Class 10, will begin on Tuesday, announced Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Dada Patil.

Speaking on the significance of these courses, Minister Patil said, “Polytechnic diploma courses are a practical option for jobs and industry. This education is important for students who wish to gain technical skills in a short time and move towards employment or entrepreneurship.”

He urged students to take advantage of these programmes, which prepare them with competitive skills in the information and technology era.

The minister also appealed to educational institutions, stating, “The Directorate of Technical Education should aim to ensure 100 per cent admissions in diploma courses. All colleges should make efforts to attract students to this stream.”

Students who have passed Class 10 can pursue three-year diploma programmes in engineering, technology and architecture, enabling them to become technicians, engineers, or entrepreneurs.

Patil further called on students to stay informed about the admission process for the academic year 2025–26 through official channels.
