On the eve of Republic Day, President Draupadi Murmu addressed the nation and highlighted the importance of India’s rich civilization, constitution and good governance. He said that India was always considered the center of knowledge and discretion and values like justice, freedom, equality, and fraternity have been part of our civilized heritage. He described the Constitution as a symbol of India’s collective identity and unity.
Constitution: A lively documentation
Describing the Constitution as a vibrant document, the President said that this is the result of morality and loyalty of the citizens of India. He thanked the great leaders who contributed to the constitution, especially Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and members of the Constituent Assembly.
Mahakumbh: symbol of cultural heritage
Referring to the Mahakumbh being held in Prayagraj, the President described it as a symbol of the civilian prosperity of India. He said that Mahakumbh is a great example of India’s cultural diversity and unity.
One nation, emphasis on one election
The President appreciated the government’s “one nation, one election” initiative, calling it a adventurous and visionary step. He said that it would be helpful in taking good governance to a new height.
Government’s public welfare schemes
Discussing the schemes of public welfare, he said that financial inclusion and basic facilities are being given priority. Assistance is being provided to the deprived sections through schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Mudra Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana. Schemes related to education and employment for scheduled castes, tribes and other backward classes have also been expanded.
Special attention to education and digital inclusion
The President described the reforms and digital inclusion in education as the main pillar of India’s progress. He said that in the last decade, significant progress has been made in the fields of education, physical infrastructure and digital inclusion.
