The ICC Cricket Committee will consider a new bonus points system during its board meeting in April, under which additional bonus points will be given to win against high ranked teams in the new cycle of the upcoming World Test Championship. The 2025-27 cycle of the World Test Championship will begin with a five-match Test series against India and England in June.

According to the current rules, if a team wins with a low difference or an innings, it is given 12 points, if the match is on par, it is given six points and if the match draws, then he is given four points. Now the ICC is expected to give bonus points to the team that won by a huge margin or by an innings.

An official said that the issue of giving bonus points has been continuously discussed since the beginning of WTC. Many teams believe that despite defeating high ranked teams, they are not benefiting.

A former Indian player said that it would be a good thing if the marks system changes. Teams will be motivated to bring results and we can get to watch exciting matches. This new bonus policy of ICC will be inspiring for some teams.
