Mumbai – Actress Hansika Motwani and her mother Jyoti Motwani have filed a petition in the Bombay High Court demanding the cancellation of the cruelty case recorded by Hansika’s brother -in -law Muskan James under Section 498 (A) of the Indian Penal Code.

Justice. A bench of Justice Sarang Kotwal and Justice Modak has issued a notice on their petition and prescribed the hearing for July 3. Muskan James is a TV actress and married Hansika’s brother Prashant Motwani in December 2020. The couple decided to separate in December 2022.

In 2024, Muskan filed a case against Hansika, Jyoti and Prashant. He was accused of cruelty and criminal intimidation towards his wife.

Hansika and Jyoti obtained anticipatory bail from the Sessions Court in March 2024. Later both mother and daughter filed a petition in the High Court to cancel the FIR.

According to Hansika, the matter was reported maliciously inspired as he had asked for Rs 10 lakh back. He gave 27 lakh rupees to James during his brother’s wedding.

This amount was used to pay the wedding planner, but neither James nor her husband (Hansika’s brother) returned the amount.
