Mumbai – Famous actor Mukul Dev, who acted in serials such as Gharwali, Kumkum and Kutumb on television, on films like Son of Sardar and Jai Ho and Yamla Pagla Deewana, died last night in a private hospital in Delhi at 54 years of age. Mukul Dev, who has worked in Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali and Telugu films, is in his family Siya. On receiving the news of Mukuldev’s death, his co-stars and Bollywood’s top film stars paid tribute to him on social media. Mukul Dev was cremated late evening in Nizamuddin West of Delhi.
Vindu Dara Singh, a close friend of Mukul Dev, told that he was ill for eight-ten days. After the death of his mother, he went into depression and did not even take care of his health. We wanted to call him for the photoshoot of ‘Son of Sardar 2’, but he stopped picking up the phone. He died in the hospital last night. His family also includes his ex -wife Shilpa Dev’s daughter Sia Dev.
Mukul Dev was born in a Punjabi family in New Delhi. His father Haridev was the Assistant Commissioner in the Police Department and introduced Mukuldev to the Afghan traditions. He could speak Pashto and Persian. Mukul Dev was in eighth grade when he received money for the first time to dance to Michael Jackson’s song at a dance show on Doordarshan. Mukul Dev also received training as a pilot in Delhi.
Mukul Dev entered the field of acting in 1996 by playing the role of Vijay Pandey in the TV serial Mumkin. He also worked in Doordarshan’s comedy countdown show one to one. He also hosted the first season of Fear Factor India. Mukul Dev played the role of ACP Rohit Malhotra in his first film Dastak. It was also the first film of former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen.
Mukul Dev later worked as a co-writer in Hansal Mehta’s 2017 film Omerta. Hansal Mehta paid tribute to him and said, “Not done Mukul, my friend… still there are many stories to tell, there is still a lot to laugh, now we will meet again.” Film star Ajay Devgan, paying tribute to him, said that he has not yet recovered from this news.
